Day 4 May 11

The largest Greek Orthodox church in Serbia
This church was used for worship while the larger church was being built.

The Larger Church had amazing mosaics

while the smaller church had quickly done iconically styled frescos
The Fortress
The white stone was from the roman period, the yellow stone was from the Ottoman period and the brick was the period of the Sebian Kings.

As I looked into a cannon I really expected to see something other
than trash and plastic bottles!

The park is basically a military museum and exhibits the period weapons.

This was an important  fortification guarding the convergence of the  Sava and the Danube Rivers

We were treated to coffee, sweets and rakija, a plumb brandy, at the ?  kafanas. Yep “?" was the name of the Kafanas coffee bar.  They wanted to name it “Shepards” but the after the Orthodox Church demanded a name change, it became simply “?”.

With the 6:00 rainstorm, instead of venturing out, we enjoyed dinner in the hotel with Steve and Lea.
